Bruce's responsibilities include Nongame Program promotion, public presentations, and information dissemination. His field duties include: winter track surveys for forest carnivores, surveying and monitoring southern Idaho ground squirrels, Columbia spotted frog population monitoring, monitoring urban-adapted peregrine falcons, surveying for peregrine falcon and bald eagle nest sites, bat surveys, and autumn raptor migration monitoring. He assists graduate students studying ground squirrels and involves undergraduates in various field projects.

Bruce got B.S. and M.S. degrees from Oregon State University. He enjoys photography, pointing dogs, falconry, and international travel. His lifelong interest in birds of prey lead him to do research on falcons and accipiter hawks and publish two raptor-related books.
