Job Title: Regional Nongame Biologist
Location: Southwest Region - McCall

Diane's primary responsibilities are to develop the nongame program in the McCall Subregion and serve as coordinator for northern Idaho ground squirrel recovery. Prior to her arrival at F&G she was a wildlife biologist with the Forest Service's Pacific Northwest Research Station, where she ran field studies on the marbled murrelet; the Payette National Forest; and the Audubon Society of New Hampshire.

Currently, her main projects are monitoring populations of northern Idaho ground squirrels, western grebes, osprey, and bald eagles, and conducting snow track surveys for forest carnivores.

Diane received a B.S. degree in Natural Resource Management from the University of Rhode Island and a M.S. degree in Forestry from Northern Arizona University, where she studied the effects of fragmentation on coniferous forest birds in west-central Idaho.

Diane's professional interests include conservation of rare species, developing protocols for more effective sampling, landscape ecology, and most anything with wings. Off the clock she spends her time back-country skiing, rafting, and acquiring a taste for sailing.
