| Name: Rex Sallabanks Phone: (208) 287-2754 Email: rsallabanks@idfg.idaho.gov Job Title: State Nongame Wildlife Manager Location: Headquarters Rex is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Nongame Bird Program. He Chairs the Idaho Partners in Flight State Working Group, the Idaho State Steering Committee for the Intermountain West Joint Venture, and the Intermountain West Region Shorebird Monitoring Subcommittee. Most of Rex's activities revolve around implementing "all-bird" conservation through coordinated bird monitoring, conservation planning, and restoration of important bird habitats statewide. Rex received his B.S. (1987) from the University of Plymouth, U.K., and his Ph.D. (1992) from the University of Oregon. Previous research interests have focused on understanding the effects of forest disturbances (e.g., fire, logging, and fragmentation) on songbird populations in the interior Pacific Northwest. He is also a member of the adjunct graduate faculty in the Biology Department at Boise State University where he advises graduate students. When not working, Rex enjoys spending time with his wife (Sydney) and 10-year old daughter (Chloe), cycling, stamp and coin collecting, and "twitching" rare birds in his native England. |
