Between May and June, Fish and Game stocks about 685,000 catchable trout in Idaho waters. Those are the two biggest stocking months because Fish and Game hatchery crews want there to be plenty of fish for anglers to catch throughout the state and it tends to be some of the best fishing conditions of the year.
A trapper, wolf trapper, and two hunter education courses will be offered in Salmon June through July. Register for any of these courses online or visit any regional Fish and Game office for assistance. The cost of each course is $9.75 per student. Seats are limited to 15 students in each course.
Idaho Fish and Game officials have confirmed a grizzly bear sighting in the North Fork Salmon River area near the Montana border. The bear was photographed by a game camera on May 23, and the bear was clearly identified as a grizzly. It is not known if the bear is still in the area.
Hatchery personnel from Fish and Game’s Magic Valley Region will be stocking approximately 26,865 10-12” catchable-sized rainbow trout in June. All stocking dates and numbers of fish are approximate.

Idaho Fish and Game's Upper Snake Region held their annual Youth Outdoor Skills Day at Beaver Dick Park this May with support from local sporting groups and businesses. The theme of this year's event was "Together, we conserve Idaho's wild" in conjunction with Fish and Game's 125th Anniversary Celebration. Over 500 community members were in attendance for a day filled with free activities, food and fun.
