Stop New Zealand Mudsnails

The latest must-have in fishing gear is not a hot new fly or spinner, but a good stiff bristle brush. It won't help you catch fish but it may protect your favorite fishing hole from being invaded by the New Zealand mudsnail, a non-native snail threatening Idaho fisheries.

Here are more tips to follow to help stop the spread of New Zealand mudsnails.
  • Always clean fishing gear and boats before and after going fishing.
  • If possible, use soapy water to clean everything.
  • Completely dry gear for 24 hours.
  • Never move live fish, plants, rocks or mud from one body of water to another.
